Situational theory of leadership is trying to match a particular style or type of guidance specific external circumstances. The general idea is that one type of leadership will be effective in one situation, but another type of leadership will be effective in another situation. Historically, situational leadership theories are too abstract to be applied to a particular situation. However, the concept of situational leadership retains considerable intuitive appeal. In this article, we rely on our previous research on situational leadership in intensive care trauma center in order to derive a general strategy for how a leader can best develop their own personal theory of leadership that works best for your unique circumstances. The strategic approach includes: (1) defining the objectives for each situation, (2) identifying possible types of leadership, (3) determining the conditions of the situation, (4) compliance management style to a particular situation, and (5) determination of the match between leadership style and the situation will be made. The medical center trauma we profile provided an interesting example of how leaders think elements of the situation to guide their own leadership. "Hide
