Organizations with missions that are social, such as nonprofits and social enterprises, are under growing pressure to exhibit their impacts on dire societal problems for example global poverty.
This article draws on several cases to create a performance assessment framework premised on an organization's operational mission, scale, and extent. Not all organizations should quantify their long term impact, defined as long-term changes in the lives of individuals and their societies.
Instead, some organizations could be better off measuring not longer - duration productivity or individual outcomes. Funders including foundations and impact investors are placed to quantify systemic impacts
