Waterloo Regional Police Services: The CIMS Project (C) Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Head of Regional Police Waterloo Services (WRPS) was preparing for an important meeting of the Council to discuss the fate of the project CIMS. Earlier this year, he recommended that the contract be canceled with ITG and negotiations in this direction were going. Now the main challenge faced to recommend an alternative supplier and approach to complete this important project. WRPS, needed to install a suitable computer automated dispatch and records management - the key components of CIMS - until December 31, 2005 in 2006, federally mandated deadlines to implement this functionality in the police force. The main knew that WRPS resources will be highly charged meeting December 31, 2005 deadline, even if the vendor has been selected as soon as possible.
