West Africa Rice Development Association, along with the various national and international partners, has been the development and transfer of new technologies to rice farmers throughout West and Central Africa. While production in West Africa is growing faster than in any other part of the world, the region does not produce enough rice to meet local demand. As CEO of the Association, Kanayo Nwanze said that the West African governments generally do not give enough attention to agricultural research, because its impact was too difficult to measure.
