The case study provides the story behind how a team determined in order to catalyze innovation and collaboration inside an organization, how best to use resources received from a philanthropist. The case study shows the way the process amongst the team members was collaborative, and how the team developed a mechanism or catalyst to encourage cooperation within the UCSF research community a community that although was more collaborative than other associations, still had silos and other challenges.
