Tin Mining, Inc. was a business located in a developing country called Boldavia mostly dedicated to tin exploitation and creation. During its first thirty three years of operation (1971-2004), it developed three organizational capabilities (technical, productive, and trust building). The case exemplifies three typical features of capacities: powerful solution to complex issues, routine and successful practice, and dependability and development over time. Moreover, it also exemplifies the organizational capabilities paradox -2008 period and three of its causes: path dependence (lock in), structural inertia, as well as the absence of a capability dynamization function.
