The Ontario Hospital Association established an independent charitable foundation, The Change Foundation, in 1996 to improve the delivery of health care in Ontario. The board of directors decided to incorporate a renewal process to describe its strategic directions and gauge the value-add of progress by 2006.
A draft plan was developed to move ahead, after the planning session conducted with several key stakeholders, which included a need to hire a new CEO. When she started evaluating the plan in January 2007, she encountered with various issues and concerns about how the institute should transform itself and refocus its activities. However, the company has to make clear its strategic direction before she could begin to restructure.
