The World Economic Forum’s Global Leadership Fellows Program Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

This case examines a distinctive leadership development system within the World Economic Forum. The program, born out of the conviction that the complexity of global challenges at the start of the 21st century necessitated a fresh generation of international leaders, recruited a small number of "high potential" young leaders from all over the world as "Global Leadership Fellows" each year. During the three-year program, Chaps combined a position in the Forum with proper classroom training modules, one on one coaching, peer mentoring, and wide-ranging evaluation.

The case explores the understanding of its own role on the planet, the vision of leadership that animates the plan, and also the structure and content of the plan of the Forum. It questions how successful the program has remained in delivering the kind of transformational encounter it visualizes and whether it could or ought to be repeated by other organizations.
