In October 1945, Henry Ford II received a telegram in his office at the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan, written by Charles "Tex" Thornton, U.S. Air Force Colonel. Telegram allows Ford to develop the system of statistical control, which have been developed and successfully used in the management of the Air Force.
Henry Ford II, recently took over the troubled automotive empire of his grandfather, and was looking for an experienced man automotive industry to help him make Ford the dominant name again. Thornton had no industry experience whatsoever, but he seemed convinced that his ideas can be applied to the company's Ford. Perhaps Ford Motor Company could use an infusion of new ideas.
