The case concentrates on the resort's Director of Rooms and, in particular, the hotel's lucrative mini-bar department. A significant face lift for the rooms in the property provides a chance to replace the refrigeration units in the mini bar, units which have been in place for more than a decade.
The Director is contemplating either a more energy-saving version of the current unit the KN346, or a substantially more expensive unit. The latter has some interesting electronic features including detection technology and peer-to-peer networking that, collectively, would enable remote real-time access to the mini bar stock. This component could drive down labour costs, reduce disagreements at check out, enhance customer service, and enable personalized mini bar stocking. The case is ordered in four parts.
