This case tells the story of the special Argentina-Uruguay bi-national commission convened to study the economics of the proposed bridge, which will connect the two countries. The bridge is under consideration by the Commission officials in the spring of 1996 was to extend 41 kilometers across the mouth of the River Plata from Buenos Aires to Uruguay city Colonias. It would, of course, the longest in the world. The case recreates the problems faced by the commission, which was to consider whether to make financial sense for the private concessionaire for the construction and operation of the bridge. In particular, the bridge has been critical of the Commission's staff and recommendations of a private consulting firm, whose market projects led him to the conclusion that the $ 1 billion bridge could successfully funded by a levy on the US $ 60 per car.
