In September 2001 terrorist attacks in the U.S. precipitated the U.S. military action in Afghanistan and Iraq, the demand for certain military assets. Inside attacks cripple already struggling airline industry, hurting domestic orders for planes Boeing Company, the sole U.S. manufacturer of large commercial aircraft frames. Boeing supporters on Capitol Hill proposed to convert the purchase Boeing 767 airframe to replace the aging fleet of Air Force aerial refueling tanker aircraft.
