In recent years, increased competition and reduced profits from domestic and global excessive and higher development costs, resulted in the automotive industry to participate in national and international mergers and strategic partnerships. This case is one of the largest mergers and acquisitions (M & As) in the Korean automotive market in recent years: the acquisition of Kia Motors (Kia) on Hyundai Motors (Hyundai). The case describes the background conditions for the acquisition, post-acquisition integration process, as well as details for Kia Motors to normalize management in a short time. Hyundai, Kia to acquire, improve their competitiveness in the domestic and international markets, achieve economies of scale and scope and strengthen its global market basis. However, Hyundai / Kia has faced a number of topical issues, including in collaboration with Renault and Samsung Motors, obscure internal treatment Daewoo Motors and M & As is among the leading companies in the motor world.
