The 2010 Chilean Mining Rescue (A) Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

August 5, 2010, 700 tons of some of the most difficult breeds in the world lost a century mine in Chile's San Jose. The collapse of the 33 miners were buried at a depth of nearly twice the height of the Empire State Building, a 600 meters (2,000 feet) underground. Never recovery were made at such depths, not to mention the face of problems, such as those related to the mine in San Jose unstable terrain, rock so hard that defied conventional drills, a strictly limited time, potentially immobilizing fear that suffers buried miners.
