In light of the trend toward open innovation, technology transfer through inter-organizational alliances and licensing are often a key component of the open innovation process. Inbound Open Innovation describes the internal transfer of technology, while the output of open innovation for the external transfer. Traditionally, the internal transfer of technology has received considerable attention because most practitioners and researchers focused on technology absorptive capacity of the recipient. On the contrary, the role of technology source has been relatively neglected. This article examines the concept of desorption potential, which refers to the ability of the company to identify opportunities for technology transfer and technology transfer to the recipient. The concept of market knowledge in the concept of desorption capacity deepens our understanding of many firms managerial difficulties in the implementation of the strategy of active technology transfer. Thus, the desorption capacity enriches our understanding of the dynamics of the external transfer.
