Technology should continue to accelerate, at least four reasons: innate human curiosity, the human propensity for knowledge warehouse, the specific nature of science and culture, technology and competitive drive for profit organizations. After developing for these reasons, and their interactions, this article briefly reviews the potential consequences of technological acceleration uncontrollably on issues such as the autonomy of the universities, the erosion of science and culture, technology, the future of man-made disasters, and the likelihood of technology driven social upheaval.
