This is a Darden case study. This case fits with classes that have a focus on systems thinking and environmental sustainability, which help students conceptualize and formulate policy recommendations in sectors dependent on the conservation of natural resources.
Pupils are requested to construct a stock-flow map that depicts the interactions between markets, pricing, production, policy, and environment impacts. Course discussion compares student maps to a real map assembled by a consultant working in the shrimp sector and investigates stakeholder perspectives. Followed by a B case [OM-1389] and a systems simulation model available for additional exploration of the issues surrounding the design and testing of policy to enhance industry performance.
