This case focuses on organizational change in an accounting firm in South Africa. The case describes how the impact of globalization and the transformation that the country has undergone since the advent of democracy in 1994, is managed StratAFin Inc., the process of creating a new identity. The case describes how senior management has recognized the need for change on the basis of many of the new problems that have been faced in a changing environment. The change has been experienced at many levels of organization: from the construction of the new building as a symbol of change and the growing corporatization of the company, changes in the management structure, significant investment in technology and human capital development, with particular attention to the ongoing development and driving the transformation of the main variety. The case offers a glimpse at the many drivers change that should have been considered in the process of how an organization should manage any resistance to change and, as a consequence of the need for flexibility in the process, and the importance of measuring multiple dimensions in the transformation process.
