The Lily and Serena instance describes three challenging scenarios faced by Lily Kanter, CEO of Serena and Lily, a high-end house goods business. The very first vignette involves one of Lily's first and most committed workers, Marta Calfee.
As the business grows, Marta takes on growing duties, but it soon becomes clear that her title, settlement and domain name are all greater than her real abilities, and Lily must decide the best way to scale back or let go one of her most faithful and trustworthy workers. Contradictory thoughts about the tactical direction of the firm and in the next vignette, Lily deals with an incredibly difficult investor/board member whose abrasive fashion threaten to seriously hinder the advancement of the company's. Eventually, Lily is attempting to recruit an advisor that is highly valuable in the firm to a long-term place, but must determine the best way to compete against a money-making counteroffer from a retailer that is highly esteemed.
