A highly interconnected world, the signals from the periphery of our environment is initially difficult to grasp, but they can be crucial early warning signs of both threats and opportunities. Unfortunately, most of us are passive scanners of our environment, the authors say: we are waiting for the information to reach us, and deal with it as it comes. The danger of this practice is that it is all too easy to miss unexpected and unfamiliar weak signals on the periphery - is blurry area on the edge of our vision, which not many people or businesses to focus on.
