Bill McDermott in May 2014 will evolve as the sole CEO of SAP AG, the world-wide leader in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) area. The case happens at a time when the company's stock is near record high at the investors assembly of SAP, in January 2014. The business was committed by a 2010 strategy to cloud computing to a transition. The essential driver at the back-side of this transition was the structuring of SAP HANA, an in-memory computing technology that merged database, data processing, and application platform functionality.

McDermott also had to make decisions round the organization and leadership of the cloud efforts of the company.
