Public Responsibility and Private Enterprise in Developing Countries Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

In developing countries, firms face different problems that put them in situations where they assume the functions normally handled by the public sector. These functions range from providing medical and educational services to local communities in the development of policy capacity and public policy. Drawing on 30 case studies of companies operating in the developing regions of the world, this article presents a typology of four strategies that describe the various ways in which firms can participate in public duties. For each strategy, it outlines the main problems faced by the company, along with suggestions for improvement. Firms have the burden to provide services in response to the failure of public policy are essential.
