This case prompts  pupils’ mind to make a valuation for Rio Light, a Brazilian power company that's state owned and to be sold in March 1996. But success was far from guaranteed. Members of the financial community indicated the minimum bid created for the forthcoming auction was not too low, especially given the inherent volatility of investments in Brazil and the lack of regulation before privatization.
