Home video-game systems have been launched by the American company Atari in the mid-1970s. Having gone through the boom and bust in the early 1980s, the industry was revived in the mid-1980s, the Japanese company Nintendo. With 8-bit video game system, Nintendo established a dominant position in the greatly expanded home video games on the market. The case focuses on the post-1987 period when the new 16-bit home video game technology began to come on the market. First to introduce the next-generation system was a major Japanese company NEC Electronics. The second with a 16-bit system was Sega, the leader in the Japanese arcade game for business and bad players in the 8-bit home video game market.
