Point Lisas Industrial Estate: Trinidad (B) Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

By 2006, the Point Lisas Industrial Estate (PLIPDECO) consisted of about 44 production facilities on 1,000 hectares of land. Some in Trinidad supports the establishment of additional estates, as well as the expansion of the business, such as aluminum, which requires large amounts of energy. The Government of Trinidad continued menu tax breaks and incentives, and substantial additional investments, as expected. Meanwhile, Hugo Chavez became president of Venezuela, and was instituted socialist, anti-American regime, which was to seize assets and rewrite contracts with foreign investors.
