In August 2006, Genevieve ("Jeh-Neh-veev") Thiers, founder and CEO of Sittercity.com looked at Dan Ratner, vice president of Sittercity and her boyfriend for five years. It took her six years to build the leading Sittercity Babysitting web nation. Thiers, Sittercity began in 2001 in Boston as a way to connect parents and caregivers on the Internet, at a time when no one thought to manage care through the Internet connection. She started the company right out of college, working full time, but by 2006, Sittercity passengers were available across the country, it was more than all of its competitors combined, and Thiers still owns two-thirds of enterprises. The company is now planning to add a pet, senior care, home tutoring services in 2007, and Thiers wondering what other problems she and Ratner will face as it continues to grow its business. "Hide
