As the movie business transformed into an industry in India, Perna Arts was the first to go public. This movie production company started various branches along with exhibition, programming, distribution, and education. The company was the first to introduce a professional manager as its CEO, who had the responsibility to align the company’s system, processes and procedures to its strategic objectives. The company had the objective to produce two to four movies per year, that according to the company was enough to generate the desired and significant revenue.
However, the company encountered with a setback of not producing the hit movies. The management considered that whether it would be better to transform their strategies from person-oriented to business-oriented in movie making, using sound management principles that might be helpful to wean away the company.
