Abstract
The case illustrates the implementation of the information system and technologically advanced software EMR in the health care field to reduce the costs of operations while improving the quality and probability of accurate treatment to the patient. Over the period of time, the healthcare industry has been widespread to all egnation regarding offering low quality or trail n error based treatment instead of eloquent treatments. These has not only cost the patient’s life but also increased the cost per patient. Though the US government has increased the allotted quota in the healthcare, such increment has not shown any substantial changes in the healthcare. However, analyzing the overall situation PHS has incorporated the IS in which it adopted the EMS and LMS technology to provide the healthcare segment accurate directing and customer data to treat the disease rightly.
Though the PHS has taken the initiative to develop the sound IT and IS system in the market, perhaps the main challenge is to maintain the quality and the cost of the programs implemented under the IT enhancement and information management. Also the right handling of the data is important to achieve the competitivenessin the market.

Introduction
The Partner Healthcare Centerstarted its operation in late 90’s under the leadership of JhonGlace who served asthe chief information officer atWomen’s Hospital and MassachusettsHospitalwhich after sometime through jointventure becamethe PartnerHealthcareCenter in Boston.Over the period of time, thePHS has earnedsubstantialmarket share and market position with having $ 7 million revenues in 2008. In addition to this, the PHS center has also increased the number of employees employedunder each department to 1500 employees. Also, it owned 11 hospitals and 900 physicians along withanaffiliation with Harvard MedicalSchool. Also, the PHS center successfully positioneditself in the market with having 2.9 patientvisits on a dailybasis. One of the major strengths of the PHS is its strong customer analyticsbasealong with the informatics based on 4.5 million patients. This allows the PHS to develop strong EMR systemwith maximum customer information and the tentative treatment directions based on past results and patient history.Though the hospital has gainedsubstantial market shareand a strongcompetitivepositioning in the market, it’s still exposed to the threat of maintaining the cost structure of the overallsystemand also the quality of treatment. The US government has increased the spending on the healthcarecenter, however the quality of treatment is still a question due toincreaseddeathratesandpatients’ non-recovery rates.
What is the overall business problem?
1. Though PHS has increased in its size and also has improved the information structure and IT structure of the hospital, however, the major issue lies in maintaining the overall cost of the system, since the US government has increased the major spending on the healthcare industry, the maintenance of the cost will offer the PHS competitive advantage in the market.
2. The other challenge PHS faces is the maintenance of the quality service offered to the patients. Since over the last few decades the death areas in the market haveincreased, despite of theincreasinggovernment spending, the quality assurance of the service provided by the PHS is also a challenge.......
