In 2006, planning for the City and County of San Francisco to promote the repair of parking policy that they claimed would eliminate the unfair and unreasonable subsidies for car users. Effort was designed to allow market forces to play a greater role in determining the cost of parking, among other things, higher prices for residential on-street parking in areas where it was not enough, and the rate increase parking on the main streets, and amendment of zoning regulations that specified minimum number of off-street parking spaces that developers of new residential and commercial projects were provided. Parking reform proposals are controversial and may be used to support the discussion of the nature of economic efficiency and the opportunity for an efficiency-minded reforms are politically sustainable.
