Director of pediatric orthopedic clinic (clinic) at Children's Hospital of Western Ontario has a deeper understanding of the process and the bottlenecks in the clinic, and also has some ideas for possible solutions. The Director may make her mind to solving a recurring issue raised in the hospital management - like performance clinics should be measured. The director of the mission reflected in the hospital, which was to improve access to health care and patient safety while maintaining the ability of the hospital to deliver the patients in the future. She knew that the clinic was also committed to the mission, and she was ready to assess the effectiveness of the clinic with this mission. Once again, the monthly meeting of the Executive was inevitable, and the director wanted to be able to provide a basis for evaluating the effectiveness of the clinic. This case is suitable for the introduction of the concept of performance measurement in non-profit settings, and the pitfalls associated with the collection of information.
