Many people are skeptical about the idea that organizational culture has no real impact on individual and organizational behavior. One reason for this suspicion is that people often use the word "culture" as a catch-all category for "the way things are done" in the firm. But "how things are done" often can be treated in a much more concrete terms, focusing on specific aspects of formal organizations, such as the structure of incentive plans in place, a formal grouping and binding principles encoded in the formal organizational structure, and established procedures and operational procedures in the firm.
