Nike, Inc.: Developing an Effective Public Relations Strategy Case Solution
It hadbeen nearly a decade since the first article surfaced in the media alleging that factories subcontracted by Nike in Indonesia and China were driving workers to work long hours for low pay and for physically and verbally abusive supervisors. The post was the seed of a media effort that created a public relations nightmare for the business. Extreme. rivalryin the national marketplace and a fiscal disaster in Asia led to a decline in the sales and market share of Nike after three years of record performance. Though no direct correlation could be established between the consumer's negative perceptions of Nike and the business's decline in stock and market share, it surely didn't help in its attempts to create itself as the worldwide leader in a competitive business.
