By 2000, Natura has been the leader in the Brazilian cosmetics and personal care products. The company took part in social projects, developed in the communities surrounding its plants and offices. However, when she launched a line of Ecos product, Natura went socially responsible basis of its activities. A distinctive feature of Ecos "was sort of rooting in the Brazilian biodiversity. The new product line includes a number of substances that have been used only traditional indigenous communities in the province. Instead of just buying raw materials from them, Natura built a partnership with these communities to share of economic benefits as a result of responsible resource exploration. These communities were key knowledge needed to develop products and Ecos lived in very primitive conditions in remote areas. Thus, the success of Ecos "could potentially affect the conditions of their lives dramatically. Imaflora Civil society organizations also participated in the union to make sure that this natural resource was socially, economically and environmentally sustainable." Hide
