Napo Pharmaceuticals Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Chronicles entrepreneur Lisa Conte two companies, Shaman Pharmaceuticals and Napo Pharmaceuticals. The shaman was created to make the discovery and development of drugs more effective in the study of traditional, indigenous healers in the tropics. Shamans were identified promising compounds that have become known as crofelemer. For a variety of complex reasons, Shaman declared bankruptcy, and Napo, the new company Conte designed specifically for this purpose, the library bought shaman compounds including crofelemer. During the case study, Napo is developing compounds for sale in major Western markets, the organization of innovative public-private partnership to develop and distribute crofelemer in developing countries.
