Within four weeks of being appointed as the new CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella describes the major challenges and threats that he must encounter in the two letters he sends to everyone at Microsoft.
He defines Microsoft's battle field as the "cellular-first and cloud-first world". That is where Microsoft needs to get its products and technology right, to build platforms and ecosystems also to incorporate the newest mobile capabilities, services and also Nokia apparatus. In order to achieve this, Microsoft must zero in on "a cellular and cloud-first world and do new things." In his view "...business doesn't respect tradition - it just values innovation".
And in order to innovate, there is a need for 125,000 staff all over the world to lead and assist in driving the cultural modification, to find out Microsoft's swing so that the team is "...in as much perfect compaction that no particular action by any one is out of synch with those of all the rest". Many challenges and threats must be faced by Microsoft in its transformation journey. Many challenges expect Microsoft in its transformation journey. On platforms, it's not clear what the future will hold for Windows. On devices, Microsoft needs to figure out methods to woo application developers to create its cellular ecosystem.
On integration, the Company has to find methods to grow the mobile ability acquired from Nokia also to transfer. And most importantly, Nadella must find out how he can attain cultural changes to focus everyone on innovation via cooperation.
