It is January 2014 and Rahul Sharma, cofounder of the Micromax Informatics (Micromax), the biggest Indian mobile handset business, is preparing for an emergency conference call with his private equity investors. Investors in response, had convinced Sharma and his cofounders to hire many senior professionals, and their first external CEO, Deepak Mehrotra.
With the creators working alongside the new "professionals," frequent overlaps and occasionally run-ins happened. Now, their smartphone division's head along with both Mehrotra had stepped down.
