Maria Gonzalez, a unionized employee of Global Communications, was detained in an off duty incident involving guns, drugs, and potential porn. The news report published the names of those detained, including Maria, but listed her name as Yvonne Gonzalez. Maria, as she was known in the office, was a customer support representative (CSR) at Global. She had access to private information about Global's customers and was the point of contact for them. Gonzalez claimed herself as ill following the arrest and her immediate boss, as she was unaware of the drug bust and Gonzalez's affiliated arrest, just presumed this was a typical ill-day callout. Surprisingly, Gonzalez's supervisors discovered that her absences were directly related to events at the drug bust. In turn, when she needed to report back to work, the managers became concerned about what the proper course of action should be regarding the behavior of Gonzalez. They were troubled by the possible customers and workers’ impact, as well as negative publicity which could tarnish Global's general reputation.
