Managing Creativity Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Creative enterprises pooled contributions wide range of people, which makes effective management creativity key to such organizations. Managers are faced with two major challenges in increasing the creativity of their organization, the author says: First, the cost of investment in creativity is immediate, while the benefits are often not evident for a long time, and secondly, the requirements of the day operations often push towards creativity. It is up to managers recognize the strategic importance of creativity and keep it front and center. The author offers six strategies for creating creative organizations along with tips for hiring and managing creative people. On the way, it shows that we are facing much more than encouraging innovation: it lies in the education of creativity and curiosity in life and work, challenging and testing our current mental models, and participation in active experimentation with new thinking and approaches.
