Henry Schacht is out of the blue solicited by Chairman, CEO and Bob Allen of AT&T, to become the CEO of the shortly-to-be-spun-off Lucent Technologies. Lucent was growing 1% in a 16% annual increase marketplace. Neither unit had balance sheets, income statements, or consolidated amounts.Establish in October 1995, Schacht is about to meet with Rich McGinn, his recently-named COO, who'd expected to get the CEO position.
