This note encompasses the chain of bribes and scandals made by Lockheed from the late 1960s to the 1970s in the procedure for negotiating the sale of aircraft. The scandals played a part in the conceptualization of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Learning objectives: To introduce students to the problems surrounding corruption in international business. Can be utilized together with the “Corruption at Siemens” case (IMD-1-0278) as a basis for class discussion on ethics.
