Dr Knowlton Roberts is the main character of this case and he was immediately appointed as the head for the compound development project. The case highlights his viewpoints and thoughts. However, when Rankle joins his team he feels threatened as Ranke began to uncover the problems within his lab results and group findings. For instance, he made it possible and evident to all the team members that the patterning problem was not at all a serious issue. Rankle had questioned the methodology of the team’s findings and their results. Robert has never been fond of Rankle and he was quite disgusted with his attitude in the beginning but later on when Rankle showed up his brilliance within the group meetings, the behavior and viewpoints of Robert changed for Rankle and he also started to feel threatened.
Despite this feeling, he never shared about it with Kim because Kim also praised Rankle therefore, Robert decided not to share his opinion with Kim and he went on to praise Rankle. Robert had been hiding his true feelings only to be on the good side of Kim and to maintain his dominant position as the head of the compound development team. Regarding the leadership style of Robert, he is a good leader and he never left any of his group members alone. He always emphasized to come up with solutions as a team. He ended up looking upon his team members and he always thought that each meeting should add to the share of information of the team members and it not focus only on scientific advancements.
However, on one hand, he was now losing his dominant team position because of the skills of Rankle but on the other hand; he was also impressed with Rankle as he could assemble his thinking so coherently in just a few minutes. However, he was still doubtful about the skills of Rankle for instance.....................
