As more and more Chinese companies are engaged in foreign direct investment (FDI), particularly in industrialized countries, the critical issue to be addressed: What is the motivation of Chinese FDI, and what is its justification? Based on a detailed analysis of both primary and secondary data sources, says that when investing in developed economies, the Chinese multinational corporations (MNCs) that are motivated primarily seeking strategic resources and capabilities, and that the main reason for the asset FDI is strategic needs.
