Invest or Take: A Venture Capitalist’s Ethical Dilemma Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

In the year 2015, May, a managing partner in an Australian venture capital business faced a major dilemma. As one of five partners, he held the majorvote on whether an entrepreneur's idea would be, taken by KTN Capital, his business for a solar-powered water filter and build a new business around it, or instead, invest in the entrepreneur's business. The venture capital firm would not be required to dodoing anything illegal asthe entrepreneur had not properly protected his intellectual property through patents by taking the entrepreneur's idea,, but the decision maker was fighting with the ethos of that choice.

In order tofurther complicate the situation, the entrepreneur was very difficult to cope with, and the investment firm was facing pressure from the fund's investors to find investments that would give large returns. The managing partner had many business and moral considerations to factor into his conclusion, and it seemed there would be no easy selection.
