This case describes the history, operations, and economics Infineon Raceway (Sears Point Raceway) in Sonoma, California, and the challenges facing the racecourse in the economic downturn 2008-9. The most important race racecourse is NASCAR Sprint Cup event. It also contains the IndyCar, NHRA race resistance, and other events. Speedway Motorsports Inc. bought the track in 1996, and have made significant investments to improve the viewer experience. The track is heavily dependent, financial, corporate sponsorship. Its naming rights agreement with Infineon Technologies was expiring in 2012, and many of his other corporate sponsors are reducing or eliminating their sponsorship due to the economic stress.
