• Whether sexual violence and physical abuse is the same in rural areas and urban areas.
• On average, how much do the Canadian people drink?

The motivation to research the first question is to find out whether there exists a relation between sexual violence and abuse done by ex-partners to the area where the respondents reside. It can be seen thatemotional abuse among people who are dating or are married has been a serious issue since one can recall. Moreover, in recent years, both are turning into a major health problem in the whole world. Partner abuse is a human problem and the role of any particular gender cannot be assumed in the action and after-effects of physical and emotional abuse by the partners. This issue also needs to be exposed to the same experimental analysis as any other health issue.  Just as any other health issue whosetreatment is based on policies and comprehensive test results, policies and treatments should be introduced for partner abuse as well, and that must be sound, and should be developed after authentic research. (Hamel, 2010)

Moreover, our research focuses on those areas where physical and sexual abuse is more visible and from our analysis, we can find out in which areas, more measures for health need to be taken in order to deal with it.

The motivation to study the average drinking of the sample data is to evaluate the impact of drinking on health. Drinking has been a problem since it was first discoveredand people are well aware of it but with time, this health issue is increasing. Even though people are aware of the short and long term effects of drinking on their body, but they do not give it much importance. We are researching on this topic to evaluate once again, the effect that drinking can have on mental and physical health of a person. Drinking not only affects the body but is also the reason behind a number of diseases. Moreover, in women, it causes difficulties in pregnancy as well. This research topic is selected to further evaluate the effects of drinking on health and well-being.

The hypotheses made for the above two research questions are as follows.

1. Difference between the physical violence and sexual abuse in different areas.

H_o = There is no difference between average physical and sexual violence in rural and urban areas.

H₁ = There is difference between average physical and sexual violence in rural and urban areas.

2. Average drinking of the respondents.

H_o = There is no significant difference between the sample mean and population mean.

H₁ = There is a significant difference between the sample mean and population mean.

Our hypothesis might be true as the given data is just a sample and knowing that the population constitutes of a larger dataset, it can be said that we can witness the difference between the means of the sample dataset andthe population.

We are using a two-tailed test for our first research question and it is also a two sample test. Moreover, for our second research question, we will be using a one-sample test..................
