Our schools, their curricula and their governance arrangements are a part of society's purpose built knowledge structure. The problem is many of today's most successful pioneers believe this infrastructure is not up for the job it was intended for: Bill Gates has said that our schools "cannot teach our kids what they should understand today."
The writers argue that we'll always confront the challenge of fitting our knowledge infrastructure with the skills we want and instead of continuously trying to fill that gap; our goal ought to be to enable pupils to beat the disparity effectively throughout their lives.
