Hydro-Quebec and the Great Whale project case focuses on the ongoing negotiations between the utility Quebec and New York Power Authority (NYPA) for $ 17 billion sale of hydroelectric power. If the contract is ratified, Hydro-Quebec will be the development of a major river system in the northern Quebec, resulting in damage to the ecosystem and the displacement of several thousand local residents. The indigenous people, as well as environmental groups, have become very vocal in their opposition to the project.
