Goldman Sachs' five-year, $100 million philanthropic initiative to provide practical business and management instruction to 10,000 women around the earth recently celebrated its first anniversary and over 1,200 girls were either enrolled in , or graduated from sponsored certificate plans. The case describes the concept, development and execution of the initiative and outlines some key strategic decisions facing the business as they roll-out the plan over the forthcoming years.
Included in these are: how to form the network of schools that produce the educational services, how to determine the greatest outside partners to supply additional services for the women entrepreneurs, the best way to best assess the impact of the plan, and ultimately the extent to which the initiative supplies contributions to the long-term strategy of the business.
