After the sudden resignation of Sir John Browne, Tony Hayward, CEO of BP, must decide how global climate change management will figure in BP's corporate strategy. Managing climate change is a major part of BP's strategy under Browne: In 1997 Browne broke from his colleagues, publicly declaring that global climate change is a serious problem and pledging BP to play an important role in finding solutions. BP managed to reduce their carbon emissions, and defended the restrictions and branding regulatory, tax, or command and control.
