Problem statement

FtT is a software company. It is just four years old. The company takes much care of its employees and trying to make best place for work. Employees have many facilities here such as bonuses, leaves and small gifts on personal occasions in order to make them believe that company supports you at every event.

It has been identified that despite of giving many facilities and relaxations to employees, some of the employees were playing evil strategies, such as demotivatingother employees to work at FtT which were against higher management by using company’s software named Slack. As the management identifiedabout respective act of employees, they wanted to take any strict step against them so that these acts won’t occur again in company.

Question: what is the role of legal counsel?

The main role of legal counsel includes managing legal risks associated to the company’s operations. Moreover, the legal counsel should also demonstrate additional values for CEO and other managers. Keeping in view the company’s problem and its environment, the legal counsel should suggest company to make strategies to be in a legal bound. If it would be exposed that managers have exploited privacy rules and have read the personal chat of employees, it would create a legal problem foe manager as well as the company. Therefore, here the managers should contact the legal counsel before taking any step against employees. Moreover, the legal counsels should help the company to prevent them from facing any legal problems and all laws should be made visible by the legal counsel. In addition, the legal counsel should aware the managers about the loopholes from which company can get benefit and use laws in favor of managers and can take any step against evil employees.(Chayes)

Question: If employees put personal information on computers, what are the ethical boundaries for employer?

It has been identified that if the computer or the software of computer belongs to company and it has not been announced that these conversations would be kept private, the employer can view the chats and other stuff going on the computer. However,if it had been announced that the information and use of computer and software would be kept private, then the employer is not allowed to do so.

On the other side, when considering the ethical rules of usingemployee’s personal information, it would be completely unethical for an employer to dig out employee’s personal information and using it for wrong purposes. However, if there would be any danger to employee itself, company, or any employer through the employee and its information, then this would be considered as somehow ethical and more importantly, urgent to save someone from evil thoughts and strategies.(Gebler, 2006)

Question: What should the VP of Human Resources do?

The vice president of human resources should take strict actions against disappointing the CEO and upper management for using evil strategies against them. However, any of the step taken should be legal and not violating company’s rules and regulations. I would suggest human resources management not to take any immediate action and keep the track of their evil strategies for specific time period...................
